Step 2: Complete Side 1
How to draw faces: Where to draw facial features for a human head by Nate Lindley.
Tip: Try to key in on two or three major characteristics that make you, you. Think dimples and imperfections. Take your time sketching and shading. This will take some time and maybe multiple attempts.
Step 3: Sketch In Side 2
Partially rendered drawing of 1/2 real, 1/2 fantasy self portrait of Nate Lindley.
Tip: Follow the framework from step 1 to keep things aligned. Since this is your fantasy-self side, get creative.
Step 4: Skill-Level Finishing
Fully rendered artwork of a self-portrait of Nate Lindley, by Nate Lindley
Tip: Be sure to vary line intensity and to maximize your use of value throughout your artwork. If every line looks exactly the same and there is no value change occurring, the piece will be flat. Mix bold and thin lines as well as highlights and shadows; the piece will become visually interesting.
